I have worked hard over the last 15 years to hone a broad but expert set of product design skills. My experience crosses a range of design industries where I have delivered everything from hand crafted clay models to 3D printed prototypes created on the latest design software. For a list of services I can provide, along with a list of my skill sets, and software capabilities please see below or get in touch if you have any questions.
Product and market analysis
I can undertake in competitor and parallel products analysis as well as market research. This is key to knowing where your product will sit in the market, the consumer base, and the competition.
Developing viable concepts
My role as a design consultant is to take your set of client needs and requirements, and to not only to generate a range of feasible product design concepts, but also have the ability to effectively select the best concepts for further design development.
Identify the chosen concept and further refine the design to optimise performance, whilst at the same time keeping in mind the most suitable manufacturing methods and materials.
CAD work and prototyping
I can create the factory ready computer aided design (CAD) model in 3D, and also product 2D technical drawings if needed – though most factories these days only need the file in 3D, with an accompanying document to explain colours, materials, textures, and the finer design details of the product.
Prototyping your design is also a crucial part of the design process, there will likely be more than one round of prototyping as we test and refine the product even further before it is truly factory ready.
I can help you prepare your project for the factory. I can assist in factory choice, manage the project and liaise with the factory to make sure your product gets the best start it deserves. I have a long list of factories I have used and pride myself in the recommendations I can provide.
Factory delivery and production
I can manage your project once the tooling production starts at the factory. There will be more prototypes from the factory tooling, signing off on the materials, colours, strength and usability before the full production, and the really exciting stage starts!
